Architectural design project for supplementary business building and improve image of petrol station, PTT Public Company Limited, Mae Rim, Chiang Mai.

PTT Public Company Limited would like to improve the image of its petrol service station in order to make the different and to create a local identity as a gateway to link between its service station and promoting community business image in order to create an impression for the customers who use the services by connecting local lifestyle, environment and vernacular architecture. The buildings are designed in a modern colonial style to facilitates business operations and create a beautiful ambience. However, the gas station canopy fascia sign has been designed with the color and logo trademark of PTT Public Company Limited.

DFAP Architects has won the competition for the façade design of supplementary business building, restroom, food court, office and Café’ Amazon. The Design concept for the buildings is modern colonial style. The façade of the buildings are designed with colonial arcade and Lanna Vernacular architecture to make it looks like a two-story building from the outside. A stacked hip-roof has been designed to reduce the scale of the roof so that the building doesn’t look too big. Building proportions and elements are designed in Lanna Vernacular architecture, such as balustrade, cornice, and rhythm of solids and voids in the front façade.
